Wall-anchored semiflexible polymer under large amplitude oscillatory shear flow

چکیده
The properties of semiflexible polymers tethered by one end to an impenetrable wall and exposed oscillatory shear flow are investigated mesoscale simulations. A polymer, confined in two dimensions, is described a linear bead-spring chain, fluid interactions incorporated the Brownian multiparticle collision dynamics approach. At small strain, follow applied field. However, at high we find strongly nonlinear response with major conformational changes. Polymers stretched along direction exhibit U-shaped conformations while following flow. As consequence confinement half-space, frequency doubling time-dependent polymer appears normal wall.

Fourier decomposition of polymer orientation in large-amplitude oscillatory shear flow
In our previous work, we explored the dynamics of a dilute suspension of rigid dumbbells as a model for polymeric liquids in large-amplitude oscillatory shear flow, a flow experiment that has gained a significant following in recent years. We chose rigid dumbbells since these are the simplest molecular model to give higher harmonics in the components of the stress response. We derived the expre...

متن کاملRheo-PIV of a Shear-Banding Wormlike Micellar Solution under Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear
We explore the behavior of a wormlike micellar solution under both steady and large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) in a cone–plate geometry through simultaneous bulk rheometry and localized velocimetric measurements. First, particle image velocimetry is used to show that the shear banded profiles observed in steady shear are in qualitative agreement with previous results for flow in the con...
متن کاملShear viscosity and nonlinear behavior of whole blood under large amplitude oscillatory shear.
We investigated experimentally the rheological behavior of whole human blood subjected to large amplitude oscillatory shear under strain control to assess its nonlinear viscoelastic response. In these rheological tests, the shear stress response presented higher harmonic contributions, revealing the nonlinear behavior of human blood that is associated with changes in its internal microstructure...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of a drop undergoing large amplitude oscillatory shear
The study of drop deformation in a time-dependent flow has received less attention compared to elongational and shear flows (Rallison 1984; Stone 1994; Li et al. 2000). One class of time-dependent flow, which can be achieved experimentally and analyzed numerically is that of an initially spherical drop, which deforms in response to an applied oscillatory shear. Figure 1 shows a schematic of the...
